Colors of The Clover Kiss™

It is not always obvious what is in a name. One thing learned over the years is that people are innately curious about why and how individuals receive their names. Names are what separate us from one another; they often define us. However, names and curiosities of names are what draw us together and make for interesting conversation.

When my youngest daughter, Poppy, was born, everyone around me was curious about her name since they had never heard of it before. People would ask why we named her Poppy, where we came up with her name, or if “Poppy” was short for something else.

The same goes for our Irish Dancer, Delaney. We are often asked how she got her name and what its significance is. We do not mind answering because we are very proud of the names we gave to all three of our daughters. In fact, after looking back, they could not possibly be named anything else. We feel their names represent the strong women they are, and, most importantly, they are all proud of who they are.

Names are not just for people, though; they are used to bring products to life. At The Clover Grove, we do not believe in having just any red lipstick: there are a bazillion red lipsticks on the market. What makes ours different is the time we take in naming each product to awaken each lipstick and create its uniqueness.

The Clover Kiss™ is a vegan, cruelty-free lipstick. It goes on like a gloss but dries like a matte-finish lipstick. It will last you all day, and you can remove it with olive or coconut oil. The colors are highly pigmented, and you are sure to love them.

Nine fabulous colors represent The Clover Kiss™ line: Rince Pink; Plain, Pink Jane; Always Rains in Minneapolis; Elton’s Glasses; I’m Such a Fool for Rouge; Ruby’s Slippers; Please, Call me Barbara; Quoth the Raven, “Never Noir”; and Call me Clancy.

Rince Pink.

Rince is pronounced “Rin-KA” and is a Gaelic word for “dance.” We love this color because it is bold for the stage and perfect for dancers. We like that “Rince Pink” flows so nicely, and our hope is it will be one of our best sellers!

Plain, Pink Jane.

The softness of this pink made us feel it would be perfect for the stage for someone looking for a more neutral, pink look. At the same time, it would be a perfect everyday color for someone wanting something more natural.

Always Rains in Minneapolis.

The purple pigment of this color reminded us of Prince and “Purple Rain.” Knowing Prince was from Minneapolis and using the idea of his song “Purple Rain,” we came up with “Always Rains in Minneapolis.”

Elton’s Glasses.

One of our favorite singers and idols is Elton John. This purple reminded us of his glasses, his fashion. Also, it was upsetting to hear of his retirement since he was such a leader in our music industry! At The Clover Grove, Elton’s Glasses won’t ever retire.

I’m Such a Fool for Rouge.

If you have had the opportunity to look at “Our Story” on the Home page of theclovergrove.com, one of my idols growing up was Dolores O’Riordan, the lead singer of The Cranberries. I had dreams of one day meeting Dolores and was crushed when she passed away so tragically. One of my favorite reds in The Clover Kiss collection is named after the song “I’m Such a Fool for You,” as we came up with “I’m Such a Fool for Rouge.” The red is very similar to that of cranberry as well. Like Elton’s Glasses, this red will never retire!

Ruby’s Slippers.

We felt the red pigment we mixed for this lipstick was very similar to the color of Dorothy’s ruby slippers from “The Wizard of Oz.” Another significance was that, in the past, I have played Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” musical, so her character is very near and dear to my heart.

Please, Call me Barbara.

When mixing our pink, we wanted something vibrant and felt like our color appeared to be a “Barbie” pink. Most of us know, though, that Barbie’s real name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. We believe that creating a strong, womanly presence with our brand would remind people of what is in a name and “Please, Call me Barbara.”

Quoth the Raven, “Never Noir.”

When we manufactured our matte black, it reminded us of the color of a raven. Yet, something kept tugging on us that we wanted to name this something “Noir.” I cannot even remember how it came to be, but we all kept talking about Edgar Allen Poe and The Raven, and it all came out at once.

Call me Clancy.

Many Irish know that a Clancy is a “red-headed warrior.” I named this after my daughter, Delaney, because she has red hair and a fierce personality. She is a Clancy. The color is orange-red and is stunning and one of my favorites.

You will be excited to know that The Clover Grove is coming out with a Clover Naturals brand very soon. Our lip colors are currently in production and will be here very soon. We cannot wait to introduce you to the colors! They will be gorgeous for everyone wanting a more natural look.

We are also adding four new colors to our bold, performance lip collection that we currently have on the market right now. Something our Clovers can look forward to is the opportunity to vote on the name of one of the colors. We hope the voting will help people to feel welcome at The Clover Grove, as we love collaborating with you and value your contributions.
